Have your say for the East Surrey Council elections

Picture of East Surrey Elections with map of East Surrey

On Thursday 7 May 2026, you will be able to vote for who represents you on your new East Surrey Council.

Make sure you’re ready to have your say.

What you need to know:

Surrey’s current county, district and borough councils are set to be replaced by two new unitary councils - East Surrey and West Surrey.

Councillors elected in May will initially operate as part of 'Shadow Authorities', working with existing councils on moving to Surrey's new local government structure.

The new unitary councils will take over delivering all local government services in your area from 1 April 2027. There will be no changes to the way you receive your existing council services until then.

Safer Redhill Partnership recognised at national ASB Awards

Safer Redhill Partnership Picture

We were delighted to be named runner up in the Local Authority of the Year category at this year’s Resolve Anti-Social Behaviour Awards. This recognition reflects the hard work of more than 30 organisations working together as the Safer Redhill partnership, including Surrey Police, YMCA East Surrey, Redhill Business Guild, and local schools and colleges.

Over the past year, the partnership has achieved significant impact - from seizing £800k worth of drugs to expanding youth outreach through the Y Bus and installing improved lighting in key locations.

This award is a welcome moment to celebrate what’s been achieved and to reaffirm our commitment to tackling ASB and helping Redhill remain a place we can all be proud of

Arts Takeover is coming back in September 2026!

Arts Takeover will be back one month earlier than usual to celebrate art and culture in and around Redhill.

The week-long festival provides a feel-good, cultural boost to the town through a vibrant programme of free and low-cost performances; and it inspires people to get creative themselves.

This year we're calling for writers and performers from across East Surrey to take part in a brand-new initiative to showcase stories from fresh local voices to be performed on the opening day - Saturday 5 September.

Other highlights already confirmed include a special performance of original song, Redhill Rising, and a return of the hotly contested Battle of the Bands.

VCSE questionnaire - help shape Surrey’s Immigration Strategy

Surrey County Council has launched a short questionnaire for VCSE organisations as part of the Surrey Immigration Strategy Delivery Plan. The aim is to build a clearer picture of the support currently being offered across the county, understand the pressures and challenges partners are facing, identify any gaps, and highlight opportunities for stronger joint working.

We would be grateful if you could share the survey with your networks and, if relevant, complete it by 30 March 2026. Gathering a broad range of responses will help ensure the Delivery Plan genuinely reflects partners’ insight and the reality on the ground.
