Welcome to your April manager's e-bulletin

This edition brings together updates for managers as we continue to prepare for the East and West Surrey elections, including a reminder about about pre‑election publicity restrictions. There's also guidance to help you familiarise yourselves with working arrangements for staff supporting election duties, including working hours, pay and non‑working days, so you can agree appropriate arrangements in advance.

Alongside this, there's an update on the new Hybrid Working Policy and what this means for teams, changes to how you log onto Access Income Manager (AIM), and the upcoming mandatory training deadline.

We’ve also shared Mari’s April vlog, along with details of the next LGR Q&A session.

Key updates

New hybrid working policy now shared with staff

RBBC's Hybrid Working Policy has now been shared with staff via the Knowledge. Heads of Service are working with their people managers to clarify or reconfirm hybrid working arrangements for their area, based on service and resident needs, and effective team working requirements. Once confirmed, please ensure the hybrid working arrangements for your service are communicated and discussed with your teams.

Access Income Manager (AIM) Single Sign-On

From Friday 1 May, Access Income Manager (AIM) will introduce the Single Sign-On facility, which will change the way you access the application. You will need to set up an 'Access Evo' account where you will be able to manage your credentials in future.

If you have team members supporting election duties, please take a moment to familiarise yourselves with the guidance on working hours, election‑related pay and non‑working days, and agree arrangements in advance.

A quick reminder that restrictions relating to publicity for all Surrey councils (including Reigate & Banstead Borough Council) remain in place until the East and West Surrey council elections on Thursday 7 May.

Process for appointing temporary resource

If you want to appoint temporary resource (e.g., agency workers, consultants, or other interim support), please note that the recruiting manager needs to complete a Vacancy and Establishment Approval Form which must be approved by Finance, HR, the relevant Head of Service (and SMT if risks are flagged).

Our Employee Assistance Programme now includes a dedicated manager advice line. While HR can support you with managing situations and applying RBBC policies, there may be times when you prefer to speak with someone external. This could be for emotional support, to look after your wellbeing as a manager, or to gain practical tips for handling challenging or stressful situations.
