Welcome

Find out what the Reigate & Banstead Communications team has been working on this month...

... and, perhaps more importantly, how you can support these campaigns and issues as Council Members.

Engaging with our residents

This month, we appealed to residents for information about a neglected dog found in Chipstead. The little pooch, thought to be a poodle, was picked up on Friday 16 August by our Dog Warden and treated by a local vet.

Our social media post about this dog received an enormous amount of engagement on our Facebook page - we believe it is one of our most engaged with posts ever. We had over 1,000 shares, nearly 900 likes and over 400 comments, and the story was also covered by Surrey Live.

Since then, we've had an update from the Dog Warden to say that DeeDee is doing much better and has now been rehomed.

Promoting our 5-year plan

We are halfway through the consultation on the draft Corporate Plan, and have had a good level of response so far.

However, we want to hear from as many people as possible who live and work here so need to continue to publicise the consultation.

Please help promote our consultation by sharing the Council’s social media posts (#rbbc2025) and letting those within your networks know they can get involved by going to our website www.reigate-banstead.gov.uk/rbbc2025.

Keep an eye on your letterbox...

Borough News has been sent to the printers!

Your copy will be delivered the week commencing 23 September, and it's packed full of features on the Gateway Allotment Project, NextStep, volunteering, our community-facing teams and much more!

There's also a survey inviting our readers to share their views on the magazine and how we communicate with them.

Please help us to promote the magazine - and especially the survey - by posting on your social media accounts and sharing it with residents you work with, where appropriate.

The survey closes on 21 October.

Follow us on social media

Keep up-to-date with all the latest council news by following us on Facebook and Twitter. We've also got an Instagram account, and a LinkedIn page, too.

We're also planning to provide some social media training in the autumn for anyone wanting a refresher on how to use these channels. For more information, keep an eye out for a future Catch up with Comms.

Coming up
Heritage Open Day
Not long now

As you may be aware, the Town Hall is opening its doors to the public on Saturday 21 September for Heritage Open Day. We'd appreciate your help in spreading the word to our residents.

Members of the public will be able to wander the corridors of our 118-year-old building, explore the fuselage of a World War 2 Lancaster bomber and meet the Mayor in the Parlour, where they will also be able to see the Mace and Charter. There will be a number of classic cars to view outside, as well as a pop-up cafe and an activity pack for kids.

Help us to make this a great day for everyone, and to showcase the fantastic history of our Council.

For more information and details of other open days and events across the borough (and beyond), see the Heritage Open Days website.
