Welcome

Find out what the Reigate & Banstead Communications team has been working on this month...

... and, perhaps more importantly, how you can support these campaigns and issues as Council Members.

Recognising local businesses

The first-ever Reigate & Banstead Business Awards were held at Reigate Manor recently, celebrating the diverse array of local businesses in the borough.

Reigate & Banstead's Business Awards 2019

Due to the success of this year's awards, we're pleased to announce that we'll be working with our friends over in the Economic Prosperity team on the awards again next year. So, nearer the time, we'll be asking you to share the call for entries with local businesses in your areas.

Addressing the nation

Katherine Lloyd, our Communications Team Leader – Campaigns and Digital, has been invited to speak at the Inside Government: Enhancing Public Sector Marketing and Communications conference in September about the council's successful Modern Slavery campaign.

Katherine will be explaining how our targeted campaign motivated our audiences into action, despite very low initial awareness levels that modern slavery was a local issue.

The materials created for the campaign will be shared with other councils, so they can run similar campaigns themselves.

For more on how you can continue to support this campaign locally, see our Modern Slavery webpage.

The Jubilee Woodland Management Committee is hosting an afternoon celebration at Jubilee Woodlands in Tadworth on Sunday 15 September to launch the new play equipment that's being placed this summer. The event is also to mark the installation of a seat in memory of our former colleague, Janet Hill.

Janet worked really hard to make Jubilee Woodlands into the beautiful space it is today. The Communications team (pictured) recently spent the morning volunteering in the Woodlands, planting bulbs and tidying paths, in her honour.

We'll provide event details nearer the time, and hope to see you there.

Delivered through your door this September

Did you know that the council's residents magazine, Borough News, is delivered to every household in the borough? That's a whopping 65,408 homes.

Resilience is the theme for our next issue, out in September. We're writing about ways individuals can help themselves this autumn, as well as showcasing things we're doing as a council for communities as a whole.

We'll also be inviting readers to fill out a survey, so that we can understand our audience better. We'll feed back the results in due course, so watch this space!
