Businesses in the South East urged to have their say on ‘transformational’ thirty-year transport strategy

The economy of the South East of England is larger than those of Scotland and Wales combined. The South East’s transport network is nationally and internationally significant, including the country’s two biggest airports, many of its busiest motorways, several major ports and crucial railway links to London the rest of Britain and to mainland Europe. Pressure on this infrastructure network means it needs innovation, insight and investment for the South East to continue to flourish.

There is currently no existing single body which plans strategic transport across the South East. Transport for the South East (TfSE) meets that need by forming a partnership of representatives of 16 transport authorities and five local enterprise partnerships. It aims to integrate different modes of transport so that journeys by road, rail, air and sea work more smoothly together. TfSE intends to submit a proposal to government to become a statutory body, which can then bid for government funding.

Transport for the South East held a consultation on its 30-year draft Transport Strategy between 10 October 2019 – 10 January 2020.

The draft Transport Strategy is available to view on the TfSE’s website.

YMCA celebrates its 150th anniversary in Redhill
Would your company like to help make a difference?

In 2020, YMCA East Surrey celebrates its 150th anniversary in Redhill. That means 150 years of supporting the vulnerable and the disadvantaged in our community.

From humble beginnings all those years ago, they have grown and changed, becoming the vibrant local charity they are today.

YMCA impact in 2018/19

To mark this special anniversary, they would love local companies to get involved with them.

A Charity of the Year Partnership is a great way to take part in something fun or challenging, while making a real impact within the community. It is also about so much more and can involve using your skills and expertise, volunteering and teambuilding. They can develop a tailor-made package of activities or challenges to engage and motivate your teams, bringing lasting benefits to your business and the community.

• Team and individual challenges
• Large scale community events
• Volunteering opportunities
• Positive public relations
• Community engagement
• Staff engagement

Everything you raise will go directly to one of their projects, whichever most closely meets your company’s objectives and interests.

Oxenwood Catalina buys 108,193 sq ft facility on Bonehurst Road for £17.25m.

A 108,193 sq ft last mile facility in Surrey has been bought as part of a wider £51m deal.

Oxenwood Catalina – a joint venture between Oxenwood Real Estate and Catalina Holdings (Bermuda) – has snapped up four last-mile logistics properties, with the other three being in London and Manchester.

In Redhill, Oxenwood has bought a 108,193 sq ft facility on Bonehurst Road for £17.25m. DHL Supply Chain is the tenant.

The deals increase Oxenwood's investment in logistics to £183m since the company announced in March the repositioning of the business with a £200m increase in capital from the its long-time investment partner, Catalina Holdings.

Co-founder Stewart Little said: "Urban locations continue to be a focus for the business and these four additions represent excellent value-add opportunities in their markets. With lease structures that allow us to access the strong rental growth in their locations, the assets will be strong contributors to the portfolio.

"Playing to our strategy around power, the buildings have exceptional supplies for their size and location, which will future proof their appeal to occupiers and potentially drive further returns."

Oxenwood was advised by Cogent Real Estate on the Redhill and two London transactions and by M1 Agency on the Manchester deal.
