Householders across Reigate & Banstead are being urged to act quickly to claim a share of up to £15,000 each, which is available to winter-proof homes and slash fuel bills.

Improving home energy efficiency is one of the simplest ways of saving energy and combating rising energy prices.

More than £6.2 million has been  made available for residents as part of the central government scheme, which will provide grants to eligible homeowners to improve energy efficiency in their homes, cut heating costs and help the environment – and up to 600 homes across Surrey are set to benefit.

Surrey County Council is also contributing £750,000 to the "Green Jump Surrey" project as top-up funding to cover the cost of works up to £15,000.

The eco-friendly ‘Green Jump Surrey’ initiative, which is being run by Action Surrey on behalf of local authorities, provides funds for a range of home improvement works from free loft, wall and park home insulation as well as new renewable heating systems installed.

Natalie Bramhall, Executive Member for Neighbourhood Services and Surrey County Council Cabinet Member for Climate Change and the Environment, said, “We’re delighted to be able to support this initiative with further funding. Improving the energy efficiency of existing houses within Surrey is a key aim for Surrey County Council in achieving our goal of being net zero carbon by 2050. This scheme will also help to alleviate fuel poverty by reducing energy bills; improving lives for many of our residents.”

Eligible owner-occupied households can use the funding to install energy efficiency improvements including loft, solid wall, cavity wall and park home insulation, to keep their home warm. Air source heat pumps and solar hot water systems can also be funded in addition to insulation works, to further help save on energy bills and reduce carbon emission.

Private and social housing landlords can receive up to £5,000 to cover two-thirds the cost of installing solid wall insulation.

If you are living in a hard-to-heat home and either in receipt of a means tested benefit or have a total gross annual household income of less than £30,000, you could be eligible for funding.

As funding is time-limited, we would urge you to contact Action Surrey as soon as possible on 0800 783 2503 or via https://www.actionsurrey.org/improve/green-jump-surrey to check your eligibility for support.
