About us

At Reigate & Banstead Borough Council, we are committed to working together to continue making our borough a great place to live, work and enjoy. Over the last few years, we have worked alongside our partners to support our residents through the challenges brought by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, while continuing to deliver against our Reigate & Banstead 2025 plan objectives. From launching an extended social and events offer for all ages from our three community centres, to investing in new housing, retail and leisure facilities across the borough – including progressing towards the opening of our new flagship development, The Rise in Redhill – there’s a lot that we’re proud of delivering for our borough. Working towards a greener future, our Environmental Sustainability Strategy and Action Plan commits the Council to making its own operations carbon neutral by 2030, and to supporting residents and local businesses to achieve carbon neutrality across the borough by 2050. We provide a range of services to our 57,000 households, including: Environmental Health Housing Leisure Planning and Building Control Street care Recycling and Refuse Collection Council Tax and Benefits. Updates

  • If you run a business in the borough, please take part in our business survey to inform the development of our Economic Needs Assessment as part of our work to prepare our emerging Local Plan. Maintaining a strong local economy is vital for our borough both in terms of employment and wealth generation. The Economic Needs Assessment will help us understand how our local economy, employment and economic links to the wider area are changing. It will also identify the type and amount commercial floorspace needed through to 2043, as well as employment supply and demand. Your views will help to inform this important research. Find out more and take part here ➡️ https://orlo.uk/adrlk

  • Big changes are coming to how your local services (such as bin collections, roads, social care and planning) are run. In Surrey, plans to simplify local government could see the two-tier structure of 12 county and district or borough councils combined into two or three unitary councils that will deliver all the services in your area. We want your voice to help shape what happens next. Please take 15 minutes to complete our survey before 21 April. Tell us how you feel about the local area and how you use local services, so we can reflect priorities when we submit full proposals to Government (which will make the final decision). There’s also a chance to enter a prize draw to win one of three £50 Love2Shop vouchers. We’re also supporting the broader engagement activity across Surrey and encourage you to complete this short survey too. To have your say and find out more visit https://orlo.uk/wve5Y

  • We're excited to share a new opportunity for a Poverty Reduction Project Officer. Working in partnership with Surrey County Council, we are invited to collaborate in a pilot scheme utilising the Low Income Family Tracker (LIFT) tool. This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with our Council Benefit, Housing and Community Partnership teams and to create relationships with other district and boroughs for the benefit of our community’s needs. This role requires a sound knowledge of Excel and would best suit someone comfortable to manipulate and examine data sets. To find out more about the role (and others) visit: https://orlo.uk/9TTip Closing date: 13 April.

  • Reigate & Banstead has backed a three unitary model in Surrey for local government reorganisation whilst continuing to explore options to collaborate with Crawley Borough Council. Reigate & Banstead councillors across all political parties unanimously agreed a preference for a three unitary council model in Surrey. In tandem, we continue to pursue collaboration with Crawley Borough Council and have today submitted a joint letter to the Minister for Local Government and English Devolution asking for his support to further explore opportunities outside of the existing county boundaries. Interim Plans have been submitted to Government today for what reorganisation could look like in Surrey. We will be engaging with residents in the coming weeks to help inform our final proposal - which needs to be submitted to Government by 9 May.
