Tonbridge to Redhill and Reigate Line
Redhill Station update from Sussex Community Rail Partnership
Redhill Station Manager, Iain Wagg, asked if Sussex Community Rail Partnership could do anything to help improve the appearance of the empty office adjoining the ticket hall, which would probably remain empty as the front of the station is due to be replaced/re-built sometime in the not too distant future.
We originally envisaged a few posters to promote some local events, however, we hadn’t reckoned on the involvement of the team from Reigate & Banstead Council, who had been asked for help in providing some information on the regeneration plans for the town. These windows have been transformed by panels informing passers-by and those waiting in the ticket hall of plans for the town centre, forthcoming events, business start-up assistance and other projects.

A great deal of thought was put into production by the Council’s team and the end result is an extremely eye-catching, professional display. Hopefully you agree they did a fantastic job. This project has given us the good contacts with Reigate & Banstead Council that we have been trying to establish and will certainly lead to more suggestions for future projects in that area.
This adds to the recent input at the station from the local community. The station now has planters on the platforms and a photographic display along the underpass. Community partners have included the local branch of the YMCA, the Men in Sheds, Earlswood Primary School , Community Care, Tesco and several other local businesses who donated both time and materials.
