It's not a Christmas number 1...
but we have two top 10s!
We were delighted that Reigate & Banstead came in at:
Number 7 in the Local Government Association figures for Count of births of new enterprises, with 1,005 new companies getting set up in 2015. We were benchmarked against all 55 local authority districts in the South East. We were also ranked...
Number 10 in a new Grant Thornton Vibrant Economy Index, this index measures acrosse six baskets of socio-economic indicators, to provide an indication of the vibrancy of the area and the borough was ranked 10th out of 324 English local authority areas.
2016 Entrepreneur Academy Winner
We had a really high standard in this year's Entrepreneur Academy. The six month course ran once a month at East Surrey College, where the group had access to high level speakers to round their business knowledge, and the last session saw them pitch their business ideas to our 'Dragons'.
The Dragons were: Brian Woods, Chair of the FSB; Rosemary French, Gatwick Diamond; Matt Turner, Creative Pod.
After much deliberation they decided that the investment would go to two winners Flavit Seaweed, based in Merstham who sell 100% natural seaweed flavouring and Powertutors a private tuition service based in Redhill.
We will be running the Entrepreneurs Academy again in 2017 register your interest now!

Over the next year, our environmental health officers will visit around 350 establishments, around 90% of which are likely to receive a very good 5 out of 5 for hygiene.
