How to better communicate the value you can offer to your customers.’ Event details: 26 March, 08:00–10:00, at Reigate & Banstead Town Hall, Castlefield Road, Reigate RH2 0SH

How do you identify what your customers truly value about your product or service? And how can you communicate that value more effectively? Join us for the next in the FSB/Reigate & Banstead Business Breakfast series when Neal Brooker from Advancing Growth will be sharing his insights on pricing your products and services.

Neal will be exploring the price vs perceived value question. Many business owners set prices based on instinct, competitors, or fear of losing work, rather than a clear understanding of how customers perceive value. In this session, Neal challenges common assumptions about pricing and explores why value is contextual, emotional, and often invisible unless it is deliberately articulated. Through practical examples and real-world stories, attendees will learn how to recognise where price-led conversations are undermining confidence, how to identify what their best customers truly value, and how to communicate that value more clearly in everyday sales conversations.

The Armed Forces Covenant
Why your business should get involved

Black‑and‑white Armed Forces Covenant logo featuring a lion holding a Union Flag on a pole, with a crown above and the words ‘Armed Forces Covenant’ beneath

The Armed Forces Covenant is a free and voluntary pledge that businesses of any size can make to demonstrate their support for the Armed Forces community. Reigate & Banstead Borough Council has achieved Silver accreditation under the scheme and the team would be happy to provide further information to guide you through the process. Find out more by clicking the link below.

The Armed Forces Covenant is a voluntary commitment for organisations of any size. By signing the Covenant, your business publicly commits to ensuring that serving personnel, reservists, veterans, and their families are treated fairly and are not disadvantaged because of their service.

Why it matters for your business

Supporting the Covenant isn't just good for the community - there are real business benefits too:

  • Access to a highly skilled talent pool. Service leavers and veterans bring exceptional leadership, teamwork, problem‑solving and resilience. Signing the Covenant helps your organisation stand out as a Forces‑friendly employer.
  • Positive impact on staff engagement and culture. Demonstrating social responsibility boosts workplace pride and helps build an inclusive, supportive culture.
  • Enhanced reputation and community standing. Covenant signatories are recognised nationally for their commitment, with opportunities to gain Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) awards at Bronze, Silver, or Gold level.
  • Support for reservists and military families. Many businesses already employ reservists or people from service families and the Covenant provides a framework to support them in simple, practical ways.

What Signing Involves

Signing the Covenant is straightforward and flexible. Your organisation chooses commitments that fit your capacity and goals. These might include:

  • Offering supportive HR policies for reservists and veterans
  • Promoting your organisation as Armed Forces‑friendly
  • Supporting Armed Forces Day, Reserves Day, or community events
  • Offering discounts or services to Armed Forces members
  • Building links with local bases, cadet units, or military charities

Signing is free, simple and fully supported.

How can we help?

The team at Reigate & Banstead Borough Council can:

  • Explain the sign‑up process
  • Help you to tailor commitments to your business
  • Connect you with local Armed Forces networks
  • Support you on your journey towards the Employer Recognition Scheme awards

Signing the Covenant is a small step with a lasting impact!
