The Harper Dennis Hobbs 2022 Vitality Ranking sees Reigate ranked 9th on the leader board of English towns and city centres and 5th highest in the South East region. The town has climbed three places since 2021. The index uses a number of factors to measure ‘retail health’ such as vacancy rates, provision of aspirational retail and retail that matches local consumer demand.

The 2022 Vitality rankings are dominated by smaller commuter towns that continue to benefit from a shift in shopping habits since the pandemic towards local high streets, with many families relocating from larger cities due to the impact of remote working.
