They have run this event in the past are really keen to be able to continue offering this opportunity to students having seen what a valuable experience it was for them.

 What happens on the day

The whole year group come together to work in teams, each encouraged by a business mentor volunteer drawn from a range of firms within our local community, in a competitive manner. Through the context of a Production Challenge the team members take on roles such as purchasers, sales, marketing, production, MD and so forth, exploring the issues that businesses face and having to react as the day progresses to "incidents" and other changes in the business environment, such as stock prices and shortages.

Students simultaneously developing their own skills and exploring their abilities in terms of taking the initiative, listening to peers, taking and using advice, acting as part of a team, leadership, determination, communication time-management, encouraging others and resilience.

The feedback from the local business people was so gratifying - they were impressed with how open to the experience our students were and what extraordinary progress was made throughout the day.
