From 30 September – 6 October 2013, there will be activities across the borough to celebrate Ageing Well week.

Ageing Well week

To celebrate National Older Peoples Day on 1 October 2013, we’ve gone one step further and created a week long programme of activities for older residents.

Our leisure and community centres have come on board so we’re able to offer activities and classes to grab everyone’s interest. Line dancing, bingo, yoga, pilates, baking, swimming, computer sessions…the list is endless.

Come along whether you’re in a group or on your own

The week is being run by our Ageing Well Coordinator, Helen Dredge: “Everyone is welcome – whether you’re on your own or want to come along and watch before getting involved. There’s so much happening all over the borough. There’ll be things to do in Reigate, Banstead, Horley and Redhill so wherever you live, there’ll be an activity for you.

“The activities and sessions are meant to give people a taste of what’s on offer. Should you be inspired by your chosen class then you can speak to the instructor and find out how to continue after the week has finished.”

A packed programme of activities

There will be a special day of activities on Tuesday 1 October in Priory Park to mark Older Peoples Day, which coincides with the UN International Day of Older Persons. Between 10am and 2pm the park will be packed with representatives from sports clubs and local community groups. Instructors will be available to talk to participants about the activities on offer.

For the full programme detailing activities and timings day by day, please download the booklet from our website.
