East Surrey College (ESC) has announced a new Creative Business Partnership Agreement with the University for the Creative Arts (UCA).
The close working relationship between the well-established and recognised organisations will support the development of students in to creative careers, allowing them to show both their creativity and innovation.
This is the first Partnership Agreement of its kind that the UCA has established with a Further Education College.
It symbolises a wonderful opportunity for local students to benefit from early access to the progression opportunities at the UCA, and for eligible ESC students to have a guaranteed conditional offer of a place without interview on the recommendation of the College.
Students will be able to progress on to study Art & Design, Creative Computing and Games Design courses, as well as study within UCA’s Business School for the Creative Industries exploring Journalism, TV or Music Production.
The University’s Outreach Team will be visiting the College to work with the College teams, delivering exciting events focused on career opportunities, specialist lectures and Higher Education study.
Jayne Dickinson, Principal and Chief Executive at East Surrey College commented:
“We are delighted to be working more closely with the University for the Creative Arts, and the opportunities that it affords our students.
It is pleasing to receive the recognition of such a prestigious University focusing on the creative industries, as we are both well-known for the delivery of high quality teaching and learning.
Our students have a unique opportunity of continuing their studies at such an important creative University”
Professor Bashir Makhoul, Vice-Chancellor of UCA, said:
“This new and exciting agreement emphasises our commitment to increasing opportunities and equipping students with the skills needed to thrive in the creative sector.
Skills that can be developed and honed through a creative education, such as problem solving, innovation and creativity, are in increasing demand in the modern workplace. Our Partnership with East Surrey College will enable more students to benefit from a creative education, and to learn to apply their creative skillset to a range of disciplines, industries and businesses.”
A wide range of Higher Education courses are available both at East Surrey College and at the University for the Creative Arts. Full details of the offer are available on the relevant organisation’s website.
Working in partnership, the two organisations are also delighted to be able to offer a Summer School opportunity for GCSE leavers and pre-Foundation Art students within the local community. Further details will be announced shortly, and will appear on the East Surrey College website
