Pharmaceutical giant Pfizer UK and Chipstead Golf Club were among those to secure awards for the contributions they make to local communities at an event organised by Surrey County Council.

Tadworth-based Pfizer and Chipstead were named the winners of the We Are Surrey 2018 Social Value Awards at a ceremony in Egham while Playle and Partners LLP, Pellings, White Bus and Unum were all highly commended.

Pfizer were recognised for helping Age Concern Merstham, Redhill and Reigate and local charities and Chipstead was honoured for its work with a charity supporting children with autism. Information about the difference they have all made to communities can be found here.

Hundreds attended the ceremony in Egham, where Surrey’s Economy, Growth and Commercial Executive Director Tracie Evans was on hand to congratulate the winners.

Surrey’s deputy leader John Furey, who was also at the event, said: “Congratulations to all the award winners. Not only are they contributing to Surrey’s economy, they are also making a huge difference to local communities across the county and richly deserve recognition for that.”

The venue for the ceremony was provided free of charge by Enterprise Rent-A-Car while the Federation of Small Businesses and Unity Trust Bank supplied refreshments.
