An update on the modernisation of Horley Community Centre

We have started a new competitive procurement process to find a construction partner that can deliver our vision to provide a wider range of affordable activities to more local people. The proposed construction partner was unable to deliver the scheme within the agreed budget. Returning to the market will allow us to find the right construction partner and make sure the available budget delivers the strongest scheme and best possible long-term outcome for the people of Horley.

This means on-site construction work will start later than anticipated, which was early autumn, and a revised timetable will be confirmed once the procurement process is complete. The project team is working quickly to secure a new construction partner and to minimise the impact on the overall completion date by resequencing the works where possible. In the meantime, Horley Community Centre will remain open at least until Christmas, with a full activity programme and rooms available to hire.

Redhill Arts Takeover is back, 5 to 12 September

Redhill Arts Takeover is back for its fourth year and it's bringing the feel-good factor into town. The week-long festival continues to get bigger and better, thanks to the fantastic support of all the local venues, artists, organisations and businesses that support it. With over 35 events and activities taking place, including life drawing, comedy, spoken word and dance, art will be taking over local venues and spilling out onto the streets. Many performances are completely free and any costs are kept as low as possible and are designed to cover professional fees only.

Arts Takeover is developed and organised by Reigate & Banstead Borough Council in recognition of the power of art and culture to improve people’s wellbeing, connect local communities and support a flourishing town centre.
