The Government has reintroduced some restrictions as of 30 November, as a precautionary measure against the newly confirmed Omicron variant of Covid-19. Face coverings are now compulsory in shops and on public transport in England, with secondary school pupils and staff being "strongly advised" to wear face coverings in communal areas.
Anyone identified as having been in contact with someone who tests positive for a suspected case of the Omicron variant, is required to self-isolate for ten days, regardless of vaccination status. Anyone entering the UK is required to take a PCR test within 48 hours of arrival and will need to self-isolate until they receive a negative result.
Vaccinations continue to offer our best chance for a return to normality. Parents can book Covid-19 vaccinations for their children online through the National Booking Service.
Covid rates are currently very high across all areas of Surrey, so if you are working in or sharing a communal environment - don't forget to try and ventilate the space as much as possible. It’s important we all keep practising the key safety behaviours to help minimise the spread of the virus over the winter months.
If you do develop any Covid symptoms, or have a positive LFD test, you must self-isolate and book a PCR test.
