We are very pleased to let you know that the fortnightly garden waste collections will restart from Monday 22 June.

Collections will continue to be on your usual collection day, which is the alternate week to your refuse and recycling collections. You can check your collection day using the ‘where I live’ section of our website and keying in your postcode.

We understand that the suspension of garden waste collections has been disappointing for many members and, as compensation for the disruption to your service, we are automatically reducing the cost of your annual membership renewal by £20 per bin. Some people have suggested they may like to donate this money to charity – if you’re one of them, you might want to consider donating to the Reigate & Banstead Community Support Centre, which is supplying local food banks and delivering emergency food packs to vulnerable residents. Unfortunately, we cannot transfer your refund but you can donate online through our website.

The difficult decision to suspend the garden waste service was taken due to high levels of COVID-19 related absence within our teams. Suspending collections has allowed crews to focus on the essential household waste collections at this very challenging time. Since the lockdown was introduced, we have seen huge increases in the amount of every type of household waste, as well as fly-tipping, across the borough.

Thank you for bearing with us.

Kind regards,

Garden waste team
