Plan agreed to remove RAAC from The Harlequin

The Executive has agreed a way forward to bring The Harlequin Theatre back into use and next steps to create an additional arts and cultural venue in Redhill. The reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete (RAAC) in the theatre will be removed and other essential works carried out at the same time so the theatre can reopen at previous capacity. Deciding how best to deal with the RAAC has been very complex but now we will be working to get the theatre back open as soon as possible in 2027. The Executive also agreed to appoint specialists to market and seek expressions of interest for a third-party to run a new arts and culture venue, to be located in Unit 5 of the Council’s The Rise development in Redhill.

Arts Takeover is back!

Get ready for an unforgettable week of activities to encourage you to take part in the arts. Redhill and the surrounding area will transform into a vibrant hub of creativity - with locations such as The Light, The Belfry Shopping Centre and Florries Cafe all involved. Whether you're joining in or soaking up the culture, there's something for everyone from Saturday 4 October.

The first Arts Takeover burst onto the Redhill arts scene in October 2023 as part of the Council’s long-term strategy to boost physical and mental wellbeing. This year’s festival will continue to provide low cost or free performances by local artists alongside opportunities for people to be creative themselves and try something new. Taster sessions for you to try will include dancing, drumming circles and a Bollywood extravaganza, as well as sketching, improvisation and horror writing workshops.

New for this year includes an arty market stall, a community music stage and a recycled fashion show. Full programme coming soon.

Community art exhibition - call for submissions

Reigate & Banstead Borough Council is collaborating with The Lucy Rayner Foundation for the 2025 Art Takeover to curate a community art exhibition hosted by the Belfry Shopping Centre, Redhill. We are inviting young artists, aged 25 and under, to submit their work for "This is Me", a community art exhibition celebrating identity, self-expression, and the things we love. Whether you're a student, part of a local youth or community group, or an independent artist, we want to see your story on canvas.

Redhill's Recycled Fashion Show

Redhill is asked to strut its stuff on Tuesday 7 October, 6 to 8pm at The Belfry Shopping Centre Community Stage. The town’s first fashion show will be a celebration of community and sustainability and everyone aged 13 and over is invited to be a catwalk model and showcase their sustainable style. We're looking for bold, inventive, vibrant fashion, that re-imagines recycled materials and pre-loved clothing. This is your chance to turn junk into funk, be a catwalk model and showcase your style.
