Arts Takeover is bringing the feel-good factor into Redhill

Redhill Arts Takeover

Are you ready for Redhill to be taken over by art, live music, spoken word, fashion, dance, and more? The week long celebration of culture and community is back for its fourth year and is taking place from 5 to 12 September. Here's your guide to what's on to make sure you don't miss out. (You're advised to check the website for any last minute changes).

Thank you to the following venues for supporting the week and agreeing to be taken over by art and culture!

Come and meet Eko, a 13-foot-tall Sea Giant, brought to life by five world-class puppeteers from Autin Dance Theatre. Eko inspires awe and wonder wherever he roams and is coming to Redhill thanks to support from Surrey County Council's Your Councillor Community Fund, Belfry shopping centre and Reigate & Banstead Borough Council.

Eko the Sea Giant will perform three 25-minute walkabouts in Redhill town centre at 12pm, 1.30pm and 3pm on Saturday 5 September. No need to book, nothing to pay, just turn up and be amazed!

Redstart unleashed - 12 September, 7.30 to 10.30pm

Get ready for some serious hard rock, punk and metal with distortion on full. Redstart's own young volunteers take over the stage in an electrifying start for Redstart Community CIO's brand-new home at Unit 45, The Belfry.

The Redstart Unleashed line-up: Echo Echo, Godsplit and Malice

All ages welcome to this free event. Under 14s must be accompanied by an adult. There will be a bar available to over 18s only - please bring ID

Things to think about now, before the takeover begins:

  1. Redhill Rising - if you're joining the People's choir to launch Redhill Arts Takeover, you can listen and learn the song on the Franklin Music website. You can also come along to a free rehearsal on Sunday 30 August at 11am at the Belfry shopping centre.
  2. Redhill's Recycled Fashion Show - designers can still sign up to turn their junk into funk and showcase their sustainable style.
  3. Redstart Community Showcase - if you're a solo artist or duo with a few songs you'd like to share you can apply to perform on the Redstart Community Stage by 31 August.
