The Community Fund for Reigate & Banstead

The Community Fund for Reigate & Banstead is a growing charitable fund which provides a convenient and effective way for locally-based businesses to support the community in which they operate. The Fund is managed by the Community Foundation for Surrey, with a local funding panel making decisions on grant awards. To date, the panel has awarded £14,000 in grants to 7 local community organisations, ranging from supporting the elderly, palliative care and children’s support to tackling domestic abuse and food poverty.

The Community Fund currently has £100k invested and is aiming to grow to £300k by 2022. The Fund is urgently looking for more donations now because any donations made between now and 31 March 2020 will be match-funded by RBBC up to a total of £10,000.

Donors can choose to invest in the fund (which supports current and future grant giving) or into the grant giving fund (to support current grant giving). If you are interested in donating visit or contact Gareth Owen.

National Apprenticeship Week

National Apprenticeship Week has started! East Surrey College is excited to support #NAW2020 and will be posting updates on their social media channels as well as on the website.

Here are a few thoughts from some of their Apprentices to kick start the week!

"An Apprenticeship opens up work from a different angle. The role gives me a great mixture of office-based and site work, it's brilliant!" Rochelle (Construction Site Management Level 4)

"[The Apprenticeship route is] more beneficial for me - I'm learning more techniques and terms than I would if I was only in the classroom." Ethan (Plumbing Level 2)

James is an Engineering Apprentice working at Gatwick Airport Ltd and whilst completing his Level 3 qualification, he has found that “College and work support each other really well – I’m able to really see things develop.” James (Engineering Maintenance Level 3)
