Will a 'Hard' Brexit mean a 'Hard' Budget?
Wednesday 5 April, Town Hall, Reigate 4.30 - 6pm

The Chancellor will present the Spring Budget on Wednesday 8 March. With recent optimism following the Prime Minister’s speech on her party’s Brexit strategy, should we expect a Budget which is going to prepare the country for the storm ahead?

In his Autumn Statement in October, Mr Hammond was keen to herald and support the fast-growing, high employment economy. This included a plan to cut Corporation Tax to 17% by 2020 and a simplification of the Substantial Shareholding Exemption to help make the UK an attractive place to do business. Will we see further changes to pave the way for a UK which is ‘open for business’?

To help you understand how the Budget announcements will affect you and your business, specialist Tax Partner, Tim Stovold from Redhill based Kingston Smith LLP will discuss the economic and fiscal outlook and its effect on UK business while Steve Lane of Robinsons will provide an insight into the local property market.

Could your business benefit from taking on an apprentice?

Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are set to recruit 202,000 new apprentices in the next 12 months, helping more young people get their foot in the door at leading companies across the country.

Research highlights the many ways in which apprentices boost the businesses they work for:

  • more than 24,000 apprentice-employing SMEs in the private sector reported that hiring an apprentice has actually helped them win business
  • 3 in 4 SMEs that employ apprentices report increased productivity thanks to apprenticeships with product/service improvement
  • nearly all (96%) SMEs report at least one business benefit to hiring an apprentice
