Business Support grant milestone
This week we hit a major milestone. Since launching our Business Support Grant scheme in 2013, we have now received an amazing 500 applications for funding. In total, that means we’ve been able to provide almost £385k in start-up funding for new businesses across the borough.
And many of those businesses have gone on to enjoy significant growth, creating employment and value to our local economy and residents. We are very proud to have given them a helping hand!

Roadmap for economy published
Every five years, the Council’s Economic Prosperity Team draws up an Economic Development Framework. It’s a bit like a roadmap for the economy, outlining the opportunities for the future of our local economy and how we can support those ambitions. It’s also an opportunity for us to see how far we’ve come and what we’ve achieved.
Now, more than ever, the Council has a vital role to play in supporting the local economy, town centres and businesses - helping them to build resilience and strong foundations for future growth.
