Gatwick Airport flight path
A change in Departure route 4 trailed from 26 May

Aircraft departing from Gatwick now fly using a method known as ‘Precision Area Navigation’ (P-RNAV). The system means departing aircraft follow more precise flight paths. It has been introduced so that the CAA can eventually switch off ground-based navigation systems across the UK.

Gatwick designed and introduced new flight paths that sit within the airport’s nine noise preferential routes or corridors that departing aircraft fly within. Aircraft started flying these modified flight paths in late 2013 and early 2014 and these routes have just been reviewed by the CAA to see if they are compliant with regulations.

Modifications have been made to Route 4 which came into effect on 26 May.  Gatwick Airport are seeking your views on the changes .....

Could you offer a placement to a university student?

Joe Simes, a Mechanical Engineering student from the University of Brighton, is currently on placement at Eschmann.

Eschmann recently added a new table to their range of surgical equipment, which meant the production line needed to be redesigned to accommodate the new product. Joe was taken on to help with this project and to support the production engineer.

The University of Brighton is looking for paid placements for their high calibre students, like Joe, who can offer a flexible way to resource a short term project. They particularly invite opportunities in the following sectors:

  • environment
  • engineering
  • science
  • maths
  • product design
  • sports and business management.
