Nominations for the Reigate and Banstead Volunteer Awards 2025 have now opened. We call upon residents, community groups, and voluntary organisations to nominate anyone who deserves recognition.

The annual award scheme, set up over twenty years ago, recognises the unrewarded heroes who do a great amount of valuable work for the borough and its community. It is also meant to show appreciation to volunteers for their selfless service.  The scheme is organised by Reigate & Banstead Borough Council in partnership with Voluntary Action Surrey East (VASE).

Volunteers can be nominated in five award categories:

  • Young Volunteer Award

For volunteers aged between 16 and 25 who have gone above and beyond the standard expectation for their age and who have used their own volunteer experience to inspire others.

  • Volunteer Award

For volunteers over the age of 25 years old who have exceeded what would normally be expected of them and demonstrated their outstanding commitment to their role.

  • Individual Trustee Award

For those in Chairman, Treasurer or Secretary roles who have shown due diligence, good governance, and commitment for the minimum of a year, providing outstanding support, guidance, and inspiration to the organisation.

  • Volunteer Team Award

For two or more volunteers or trustees who have demonstrated great teamwork, provided support and encouragement for other volunteers, and made a significant and positive impact through working together.

  • Long Service Award

For volunteers that have completed a considerable length of voluntary service, 10 years or more.

To qualify, nominees must live and/or volunteer in the borough and not receive any remuneration for their time.

The closing date for nominations is Monday 16 June 2025

To nominate, please visit the council’s website here.

Successful nominees will be invited to a special awards ceremony in July. If you require further information, please email mayor@reigate-banstead.gov.uk.

This exciting new event marks Reigate and Banstead’s local celebration of youth sport, created in partnership with GLL, our leisure centre operator. The Junior Games has been developed as our borough’s alternative to the recently concluded Surrey Youth Games, continuing the legacy of promoting opportunity, inclusion, and active lifestyles for our young residents.

Over the past 10 weeks, children across the borough have received free coaching in one of four sports:

  • Basketball
  • Swimming
  • Pickleball
  • SEND Multisport

On the 13th July, these young athletes will come together to represent their local leisure centres and compete in their chosen sport. The event promises to be a joyful and inspiring occasion, showcasing the children’s hard work, growth, and enthusiasm.

We would be delighted to see you there, cheering on the participants and celebrating the power of community sport.

Date: Saturday 13th July 2025
Time: 10:00am – 2:00pm
Location: Donyngs Leisure Centre, Redhill

More details will follow closer to the date.

Greenspaces strategy

Our fabulous Greenspaces, which include parks, play areas, commons, cemeteries and allotments, contribute to the quality of life of more than 150,000 residents. They are also vital for enhancing biodiversity and improving environmental sustainability.

Last year we asked local residents, businesses and organisations for their views on our green spaces. The feedback has helped shape a draft Greenspaces Strategy which sets out our long-term vision and priorities to help communities and nature to thrive.

You can read the draft strategy on our website and let us know what you think by completing a short survey or chatting to us at one of the park drop-ins. The consultation closes on 13 July 2025.
