Anti Social Behaviour - Webinar for Elected Members

You are invited to attend a webinar to learn more about Anti-Social Behaviour. Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) refers to actions or behaviours that cause, or are likely to cause, alarm or distress to others. To address ASB, various powers and tools are available to police, local authorities and other partner agencies, including those introduced through the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime & Policing Act 2014.

Elected members can play a crucial role in ensuring the effective use of these powers within local communities and that victims and communities get the support and advice they need to feel safe where they live, play and work.

This online briefing session will:

  • Advise you of the tools and powers in the ASB Crime & Policing Act 2014
  • How Surrey works in partnership to tackle ASB
  • What you can do as an elected member to support victims and communities

The sessions will be delivered by Jo Grimshaw, Head of ASB, Partnerships & Youth Engagement and Tactical Lead for Serious Violence, at Surrey Police. There are two sessions to choose from, please use the links below to register.

Member Tablets

As part of the RBBC IT strategy it was agreed that Councillors would provide their own devices to access online tools required to deliver their duties as elected representatives, namely:

      • Outlook for email
      • ModGov for review of Council papers (agenda, reports, minutes etc)
      • MS Teams for remote meetings

Prior to this Members had been provided with “tablets”, hand held devices suitable to complete the activities listed above.

It was agreed at full Council as part of the IT strategy already referenced, that these “Member Tablets” would no longer be supported by IT, as they were either at, or close to the end of their useful life.

IT support ended in April 2023, and was communicated in advance of this deadline.

Councillors receive an annual pre-tax payment of £400 as part of their Members Allowance to cover the cost of purchasing the hardware (device) required to replace their Member Tablet.

On 18 January 2024 a drop in session took place for Councillors to bring their own devices to RBBC IT Officers to allow for any challenges to be resolved ahead of the tablets being deactivated.

Further to the email sent to all Councillors by Laura McCartney, Strategic Head of Organisation & Transformation on 07 May 2024, all helpdesk tickets raised during the January Member IT drop in session have now been resolved, meaning the tablets will shortly become unusable.

If you have yet to return your tablet, please do so by dropping it into Town Hall Reception.  The tablets will be securely disposed of in line with RBBC Information Governance processes.
