Complying with data protection requirements is a major challenge for councillors. Failure to meet the legal requirements can open councillors up to the legal challenge or a complaint under a council standards scheme. What to expect:
A refresher of current data protection requirements, and what they mean for local councillors. Explore the multiple data protection “worlds” that councillors are part of, and what they mean for you. Consider how to approach different scenarios you might face as a local councillor.
It is also your chance to ask questions, and any next steps.
