Sad passing of Marion Brewster

Sadly, Marion Brewster died at her home on 29 Dec 2023. She had been frail for some months following a fall and had been in the Royal Alfred Seamen’s Home for respite care in Woodmansterne. She returned to her flat in Chipstead but contracted a chest infection and then became very unwell. Her son, Richard, who lives in New Zealand, managed to visit his mother during the summer.

Marion was Mayor of Reigate and Banstead Borough 2004-2005. She was elected as a councillor in 1998 for Chipstead, Hooley, and Woodmansterne, served on the planning committee for eight years, and was holder of the Finance Portfolio.

Marion’s funeral will take place on Thursday, 11th April at 2pm at St. Margaret’s Church, Chipstead.  There will be a private cremation beforehand.

The reason for the long time scale is that it has been difficult for her son, Richard, to make all the arrangements.

The Mayor will be attending as Marion was a past Mayor.

There is a lovely article about Marion and her husband Trevor here
